Todd Alan Gallery
For over thirty-eight years, Todd Alan has been hand crafting one-of-a-kind pieces of intricate jewelry. His self-taught signature style is treasured all over the world. Online since 1999, when Todd started his web-based store “Hand Woven Bands,” Todd has handmade and shipped over 18,000 wedding rings and engagement rings to couples all around the world.
Todd Alan has designed an elegant style of braided wedding rings that represent the weaving of your lives together. They are a small, family run business in Sarasota, Florida. Todd and his daughter Lyra are here to help you along every step of your journey as you design your perfect rings.
Every piece is a very involved step-by-step process:
It has taken over three decades for Todd to master this unique and one-of-a-kind art form of hand braiding and swirling gold. Every step of the process requires rare jeweler skills and years of repetitious mastery to create these intricate yet sturdy designs.
In a world of mass production, most pieces of jewelry are machine cast or stamped. Here, Todd makes every single one on his bench, one at a time. This jewelry is not cast, or mass produced, but uniquely and individually handcrafted creations. Todd Alan is one of the finest gold weavers in the world. He is a traditional bench jeweler, who uses traditional tools and a hand torch. Raw metal round wire is poured, cut, woven, forged, fused, and filed by hand. Todd Alan has been a full-time metalsmith creating heirloom jewelry since 1986.
In the historic district of Burns Court, Todd has envisioned a store that reflects the ambiance of a time of old hand-crafted artistry, a signature of his fine jewelry. From there, he sells his one-of-a-kind art jewelry to fine galleries, specialty shops, and online customers all over the world. Inspired by the patterns of nature, Todd’s unique art form has evolved into his signature style. Each piece of jewelry is a miniature work of art. You can see him on YouTube as ‘The Ringmaker” and see how he creates each piece by hand. He has spent the summer designing and building by hand each piece of furniture and each wooden glass case creating a store that is a work of art in and of itself.
Only working with the finest metals and gemstones and diamonds, Todd weaves intricate one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces reminiscent of vintage filigree handwork with a contemporary expression.
Every Ring Is Treasured
“I take my time with every ring and every customer because I know how special every wedding is and how treasured your wedding rings are and will be. They are the symbol of your love and a reminder of your connection to the one you love every day.” – Todd Alan (The Ringmaker)
Part of Your Story
“I truly love my work, I enjoy every aspect, from the phone call consultations, through the creating of the rings, to seeing customer’s photos when they come in my email. I’m a small shop artist and I prefer it that way. I like having a connection to the couples I work with. To me, the whole point of having your rings handmade is to have a human connection to the process of where your rings came from. They become part of the story of your marriage, weaving lives together.” – Todd
Jewelry Should Be Handmade
“To me jewelry should be handmade. So many things in our world are factory-produced, not unique or original. I take my time with every piece because I know how special it is going to be for you. Thank you for your interest in my work.” – Todd
Customer Reviews:
“TAKE A CHANCE FOR LOVE. How unique is your love story? It deserves a matching set of rings to capture that same feeling. To capture that same beauty. To capture that same uniqueness. Wedding bands are intended to be a physical representation of a true love that is shared. How ever to find something so worthy? Years ago, we searched the world over and found only factory made, mass marketed nonsense, ring shaped things pressed and stamped out by a robot. It simply will not do. And then we found our true love with Todd Alan Gallery. Hand woven bands created to order and customized upon request. Materials and styles selected by us. Made specifically for us. We were so impressed with the initial pieces that we decided to set a new goal for ourselves. Every 5 years we have returned. 3 sets and counting. It’s not enough. We will be back. And again, and again… Get you some. (Stay tuned, I have more to say about things beyond the rings)” – j d
“We were customers of Todd’s 10 years ago for my now wife’s engagement ring and our wedding bands. They are absolutely stunning and often get noticed with people asking for the story of such a beautiful design.
10 years later, it was obvious to work with Todd and Lyra to get a perfect anniversary gift of a stunning custom pair of earrings. From start to finish Todd & Lyra were amazing to work with and we quickly agreed a perfect design which Todd executed flawlessly. Further they went above and beyond to get it all complete in time.
They are amazing to work with and I thoroughly recommend them as a business.
And, yes, my wife loved them!” – Andrew Smith
“I was walking in the Burns Court area one weekend afternoon when I saw Todd Alan’s Gallery and decided to walk in and look at his jewelry. What a lucky stop! Not only are there a lot of Mr. Alan’s gorgeous creations, particularly braided rings, on display, but I was warmly greeted by Lyra, his daughter. I had a chance to speak to her at length about a project I’d been putting off.
For several years, I had been wanting to have a ring made with an heirloom diamond that is very meaningful to me, but several of the local jewelers I consulted with were essentially businesspeople, not artisans, so I didn’t feel enough confidence and inspiration to move forward with a new ring. That is, until I brought the diamond to Todd Alan! Both he and Lyra are lovely people and really took their time to know what I was looking for. They were eventually able to match the stone with one of Todd’s beautiful six-strand gold rings. Now, instead of sitting unused in a drawer, I have the pleasure of wearing a piece of family history in one of Todd Alan’s beautiful creations. My grandmother’s stone looks spectacular, and timeless, in its new setting!
Thank-you so much, Todd, Lyra, and Katie!” – Sharon P.
