The Breakfast Company
The Breakfast Company is a family-owned restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, known for its delicious breakfast and lunch. They specialize in scratch-baked goods, including specialty muffins, brownies, cookies, and pastries. The menu features a variety of options, such as omelets, French toast, skillet bowls, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes like a Mediterranean skillet bowl with gyro meat, feta, and tzatziki. Mixed among the traditional breakfast and lunch dishes like pancakes, eggs, waffles and sandwiches on the menu are nods to the owners’ Greek culture: famous Greek salad; avgolemono soup; and pitas featuring gyro meat and Mediterranean veggies.
Dimitri Syros and his mother Terri Syros-King opened the original The Breakfast Company in Twelve Oaks Plaza in 2020. Syros’ grandfather is the late George Soublis, who owned the Greek restaurant El Greco Cafe in downtown Sarasota. Soublis is considered “the guiding spirit behind the family’s work,” along with his repeated statement, “Welcome, my friend!”
The family has established a legacy of warm hospitality, classic recipes, and a dedication to quality. The Breakfast Company is committed to honoring that tradition as they seek to innovate the breakfast/lunch experience.
In addition to blending a creative daytime menu with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, the bakery at The Breakfast Company is what keeps customers coming back again and again. Their food is matched by a welcoming customer service experience that treats their guests like family.
After opening three previous restaurants (in Bradenton’s Oaks Plaza, in the Landings Shopping Plaza, and University Town Center), the family have added a fourth location in Sarasota downtown’s Rosemary District at 411 N. Orange Avenue. They are open daily from 7 0r 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (depending on location) and also offer catering and delivery services.

“I don’t know what took me so long to visit this Sarasota fave breakfast spot! After a 4-mile morning walk, I was craving a fresh & fluffy omelet. Despite the restaurant being full both indoors & on the patio, a small table became available quickly outside. The portion was generous & I actually ate 1/2 later for dinner! The server had the timing perfected and was attentive, even though I was a solo diner. That’s non-negotiable for me, since I’m in the hospitality/tourism business. “Did uber eats today and got the farmhouse blt, hot almond milk chai, and a double chocolate chip muffin. food from here is always amazing but wow. the chai was freaking incredible. the flavor is unlike any other. and that MUFFIN!!!!!! I bake a lot and not to toot my own horn, but everyone tells me I’m amazing at it and now I will not be able to rest until I can figure out how to recreate that double chocolate muffin. literally the most perfect texture so moist and amazing flavor. best muffin I’ve ever had and that’s including the ones I’ve made which is a pretty crazy feat. absolutely love this place, I don’t eat out/order food often, but I have quite a few times from here and it’s always great!!!!!” – Isabella Ortega
“Love this place!! First time here. Went with my mother and nephew who I haven’t seen in years. Wanted to go to a nice place on our way to big cat habitat. So glad we chose this location. The waitress Kiersten was nice and had a great personality. The food was excellent. Quality ingredients and very, very delicious!! I had the berries and cream pancakes and they hit the spot! I also had a couple slices of bacon left over from my mother, and it was crisp and very tasty. Outdoor seating is also available which is just a nice thing to have down here in Florida.
