The Breakfast Company
The Breakfast Company is a family-owned restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, known for its delicious breakfast and lunch. They specialize in scratch-baked goods, including specialty muffins, brownies, cookies, and pastries. The menu features a variety of options, such as omelets, French toast, skillet bowls, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes like a Mediterranean skillet bowl with gyro meat, feta, and tzatziki. Mixed among the traditional breakfast and lunch dishes like pancakes, eggs, waffles and sandwiches on the menu are nods to the owners’ Greek culture: famous Greek salad; avgolemono soup; and pitas featuring gyro meat and Mediterranean veggies.
Dimitri Syros and his mother Terri Syros-King opened the original The Breakfast Company in Twelve Oaks Plaza in 2020. Syros’ grandfather is the late George Soublis, who owned the Greek restaurant El Greco Cafe in downtown Sarasota. Soublis is considered “the guiding spirit behind the family’s work,” along with his repeated statement, “Welcome, my friend!”
After opening three previous restaurants (in Bradenton’s Oaks Plaza, in the Landings Shopping Plaza, and University Town Center), the family have now added a fourth location in Sarasota downtown’s Rosemary District at 411 N. Orange Avenue. They are open daily from 7 0r 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (depending on location) and also offer catering and delivery services.

“Diana was fabulous server. Restaurant is clean, nice looking, indoor and outdoor seating. Food was wonderful. I had a lemon curd French toast that was almost like eating lemon meringue pie. Wonderful. They have incredible homemade muffins. They cut them in half and grill them. Absolutely incredible. I had the orange cranberry grilled muffin. It was so good I went back again this morning. So, two days in a row had fabulous meal with wonderful server who had a bright cheery attitude and was so nice! “Update: I have been here a few times since my first visit. The food is always delicious and creative. Today was French toast with lemon curd and blueberries. Soooo good!
Come hungry! As you enter your eyes will be delighted by a beautiful display of their baked goods. I sat at the small counter where I was greeted by at least three servers. The menu is extensive making my decision on what to order and eenie meanie minie mo. I decided on the avocado toast. This is not your ho hum version. Served on thick toasted bread, topped with a lot of avocadoes, tomato slices, red onion slices, feta cheese, balsamic glaze and two poached eggs. I ordered more tomato as my side. It was fabulous! My wonderful chiropractor is nearby so I will be stopping in again soon to try more of their creative dishes. As I left, I noticed another patron eating a waffle with what looked like chunks of fruit on top. Do I really need to wait until my next chiropractor visit?” – Joan Raymond

I had the Strawberry Nutella French Toast with a side of their incredible loaded potatoes—everything was unbelievably fresh and bursting with flavor! I couldn’t resist ordering the mini maple bacon cinnamon roll, and I devoured the entire thing. It was SO amazing!
