Since 1982, Thayer Jewelers has sold only the finest heirloom quality jewelry, important colorless & natural fancy color diamonds, gem quality sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and alexandrites.
Thayer Jewelers was founded in 1982 by Jeremy Thayer as a direct importer of important gems from Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand. In 1985 he and Bruce Davidson opened Dianus Lanka LTD in Kalutara, Sri Lanka, a cutting factory with over 110 full-time cutters and polishers. He traveled to mining centers throughout the world acquiring rough gems for production cutting. The combination of the skills developed from learning to grade and value rough gems coupled with early years of study at the Gemological Institute of America and the Asian Institute of Gemological Science laid the foundation for a unique expertise that very few in the industry share. He later applied this expertise to sourcing and buying fine estate jewelry. Many jewelers and even gemological laboratories have called on him to assist in identifying and evaluating rare and important diamonds and gemstones.

They do not sell illusion or carry this year’s trendy jewelry. They carry classic, heirloom quality jewelry that will stand the test of time and be in vogue for generation after generation. They buy directly from cutters and acquire fine estate jewelry from proprietary sources. They custom make fine platinum and 18k gold jewelry. They are aligned with several groups that share their expertise and sourcing practices, buying at least one or two layers below normal channels.

“Happened to be walking past this jewelry store when I noticed a pair of Cartier small Love hoop earrings in yellow gold in the window. Came back 2 days later to enquirer about them and was thrilled at the asking price. They were only worn a few times (if at all) and were in perfect condition.
