About Linda Richichi:
At the age of two, Linda remembers thinking… “I am an artist!” All through life, color mixing came easily to her. Both her mom and grandfather were artistic with a keen sense of color. Her dad was color blind. Recent studies show daughters of those who were color blind may see color more vividly because of a fourth cone. Linda suspects that this is her case.
An experience with synesthesia (hearing color) further have heightened her sense of color. This helps her bring the feeling of the outdoors onto the canvas for you to enjoy. As a teenager, her first portrait commission was at age 16. In high school out of the hundreds of entrees in a tri-county competition, her work received 2nd place. And yet, her belief in herself was so low so she only minored in art in college (the first go around).
A near death experience in her early thirties caused her to finally follow her passion and become a full-time artist. After graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from SUNY, her pastel portrait was accepted into the Pastel Society of America’s international exhibit at the National Arts Club. Richichi received a scholarship from them to attend the Art Students League in New York City.
Since 1999, the globally collected Artist Linda Richichi has earned many Best of Show Awards at national and international Plein Air paint outs and exhibitions. One of her paintings that received a Best of Show was at the International Plein Air Painters Worldwide Paint Out in Ontario, Canada. Notably, in 2012 Richichi was voted as National Best Intuitive Artist from About.com (then a NY Times company).
Linda quickly found national acclaim as a portrait painter, but in 2001, she could no longer paint portraits because of a personal loss. Instead, she took up landscape painting because she felt a calling for the wild. She studied in the studio of John Osborne, Garin Baker and Andrew Lattimore. Linda turned to Plein Air painting, as she found that Mother Nature was the healing energy, she needed to recover from deeply resonating personal loss. This began her realization that art can help to heal us, too. Through her paintings, like in her workshops in Sarasota, Fl, you begin to “Experience the Energy” through the harmonized color vibrations in her art.
Her work has exhibited extensively around North America. In recent years at the National Arts Club in N.Y.C with the Pastel Society of America her submission earned a top award and elevated her to Signature status. Plein Air Magazine awarded a landscape Best Landscape in the Plein Air Salon, Nov. 2021. West Coast Woman featured Linda’s story in their magazine, August 2023.
