Gary Weiner Fine Art
As a self taught artist, Gary Weiner has devoted years refining his style and techniques. His Lyrical Abstract paintings have been widely accepted and applauded, resulting in his work being successfully used in both corporate and residential settings. His use of vibrant colors and freestyle lyrical abstraction make his work ideal for contemporary and modern environments and forward thinking, cutting-edge settings.
His aesthetic is a rich utilization of bold colors, vibrant blends of contrasting tones , as well as, free form movement and flowing lines. In the tradition of the great contemporary Artists and abstractionists, Gary has developed an individualized style that expresses his commitment to freedom both on the canvas and as a stream-of-conscious, Lyrical Abstract Artist. His speed of execution has very quickly become his signature style. Gary does not paint quickly because of a lack of time or to break records, but simply because he simply does not need more time to do what he does and conversely, he believes a longer time period would slow down his gesture, introducing doubts and over-thinking that would affect the purity of his strokes, the cruelty of the shapes, the unity of the overall flow of his artwork.
His passion for vibrant color and free-form shapes and dramatic movement motivate him to create a rich array of imagery. By utilizing freestyle forms and unbridled gestures and movements, he exploits the graphical effects of centrifugal forces applied by loose and fast gestures on the paint.
Lyrical Abstraction, and thus Gary’s artwork, postulates four conditions that characterize (his) the style:
Primacy of speed of execution : speed prevails to avoid the interference of consciousness of the artist.
No preexisting shapes : the painter must not rely on any reference at all.
No premeditated moves from the artist : painting is not a cognitive process.
Ecstatic state of mind of the artist : isolation and concentration of the artist help release.
As you view his works, Gary suggests that “Art equals beauty created. Thus, Art and beauty precede consciousness and thought. Art does not need to represent reality, as Art is it’s own form of reality, prior to consciousness. Unlike Architecture, where form fits function, Art need not fit form to function beautifully as its own reality.”
As a lifelong student of Philosophy and Psychology, he affirms that Art and Beauty appeal to the unconscious mind and innate senses, and thus, he paints in a state of mediation and without forethought and planning, choosing a color palette prior to beginning each piece, but remaining open to the introduction of new tones and hues, as the work develops organically. Gary lets the Art take him through the process and vice versa. What results are spontaneous, life affirming, joyous creations of the purest form.
