Christine Nordstrom, the owner of Sift Bakehouse, opened Five-O Donut Co. On Ringling Blvd. It is located near court house and police station. Fittingly, her shop is decorated with cartoon logos of a cop holding a doughnut.  There is an outline of murder victim on the floor, holding a doughnut. On white washed faux-brick walls there are old photos of police officers.

Christine is a former fine-dining pastry chef who makes from cookies to wedding cakes to birthday cakes for Sift Bakehouse. Her new venture is donuts. Her parents used to have a doughnut shop. The options include yeast doughnuts, croissant doughnuts and cake doughnuts, with gluten-free and vegan options.

“I was raised in this area but haven’t been back in quite a few years so I was pleasantly surprised to find this little place on our way to the beach. My kids and I got half a dozen donuts and every single one of them were amazing! Knowing that these are a gourmet product, we were completely prepared to spend just a little more on them and I should add that they were more than worth the price! I got the Butterfinger donut and between my boys they shared some others with everything from cereal and pop tart toppings to a maple frosting. Both people working were so sweet and friendly, very patient with my indecisive kids trying to make their selection… and the theme of the shop is a really cool concept also. Wish we lived closer or had one at home… It will be a stop on our itinerary every trip back.

“My hubby and I have been dying to stop by this place for over a month now – and finally got to yesterday (Saturday morning). We were greeted by a fabulous sweet bakery smell, a friendly smile and Welcome! I was literally overwhelmed by the large case of mouth watering, decadent looking items of perfect confection. Ohhh myyyy. What to choose. I opted for a raised chocolate topped heavenly delight and my hubby is a plain raised fan (I know, really???). Anyway, these donuts are handcrafted, made fresh every morning and you absolutely HAVE to try them! They are well worth paying a little more than you would for those “sugary” big box brands – I didn’t blink an eye.
