Grace Howl Art Gallery
In January 2015, Grace Howl opened a gallery in Sarasota to showcase her original art. It’s a very contemporary space to view and select the perfect piece of original art for your home or business walls.
ART: Intuition. Connection. Emotion
Abstract art conveys Grace’s emotions and thoughts and the interconnectedness of life and art. Colors and images are her language, way of thought and communication. Perhaps looking at her work is like beginning a journey to an unknown destination and because it is undefined it cannot be grasped. Yet art can transform viewers to a different level of thinking. To experience truth, beauty and innocence; capture a mood, emotion or thought with movement, images, and color; a new way to experience art, life and love.
Grace Howl’s hope is that you will find yourself intrigued and immersed. She wants collectors to have an emotional attachment to her art and enjoy the experience of seeing it every day. That … in her opinion is the pure essence and value of art.
In Interview with Inhabit Sarasota, Grace tells how her painting career started:
“I bought some paints in 2003 thinking it would be fun to try to draw or paint. But I worked long hours as vice president for a commercial real estate company handling property management, renovations, leasing negotiations and business development, so didn’t really have time to do anything. I was very left brain, numeric, legal, logical and verbal. My profession was my life. Then in 2007, after a car accident that really jostled my brain, a moment that changed my life forever, I changed inside and out. It sent me on a new path. The doctors suggested I do something to help my brain heal. I started painting as a way of communicating. It became my language when words failed me which was frequently. I had to take lots of naps and did a lot of day dreaming. When I looked at things or closed my eyes, I would see colors and images instead of words. So I started to paint. It was another life changing experience for me. Creating art has literally saved me mentally and emotionally. It has been and continues to be a great healing experience for me. It is like something inside of me needs to get out.”
Grace Howl’s artwork is in commercial as well as private collections in Sarasota, Chicago, San Francisco, New York and United Kingdom. She works through the recommendation of designers and with individual collectors. She has participated in numerous local art shows: Art Center Sarasota, Going Vertical, Art and Frame, and Art Off Palm. She is a member of the Art Center Sarasota, Sarasota Arts Alliance, Sarasota Architectural Foundation, and Interior Design Society. Grace Howl has created several installation art projects. The most recent was at The Ice House in Sarasota, FL: Reimagining Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. She conceptualized, designed and installed a complete immersive experience based on their Love Letters and 25,000 pieces of correspondence sent between these two very important 20th century artists. Thousands of attendees came to view, visit and revisit the installation day after day in February 2014.
