The Original Hob Nob Drive-In
The Original Hob Nob Drive-In is the Veteran drive-in with open-air bar & outdoor seats doling out signature burgers, signature chicken, build your own burger, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, milk shakes & floats. This burger joint opened in 1957 and had a long history of 67 years. It closed in May of 2024 when the previous owner Cary Spicuzza retired.
Thanks to great restaurateurs Dimitri Syros and his stepfather Troy King, the Hob Nob Drive-In came back to life. Dimitry Syros and his family are the owners of The Breakfast Company with several locations. They already revived The El Greco Kitchen and Market that are near and dear to their family. The Original Hob Nob became their next project.
To Troy King, reviving the Hob Nob feels deeply personal, as he grew up eating there as a child. Later on, he brought his kids to the place. The family and staff love hearing stories from the past days. The family are grateful for the opportunity to bring back something meaningful to the community where stories intermingle with great food, fast service and the checkered black and white and red decor like the good old days. They want to make sure The Original Hob Nob stays for the next generation, where locals and guests can enjoy the old school drive-in classics.
Hob Nob Drive-In, located at 1701 N. Washington Blvd. re-opened on April 21, 2026. When developers are quick to try to erase Sarasota’s charm and past, Dimitri and his family are busy saving Sarasota’s beloved gems.
