Discover the story of the Goldstein family bakers, Peter and Beate ‘Mama G’, and their rich history.
After a decade of working at a local gourmet market, Beate decided to venture out on her own. Armed with a wealth of experience, innovative ideas, and a cherished family recipe book, she opened Mama G’s German Bakery and Coffeehouse (SRQ) in 2015, with a business name thoughtfully provided by her son-in-law.
Inspired by her mother’s success, Beate’s eldest daughter, Jacqueline, pursued her own dream of opening a bakery. In 2018, Mama G’s (St. Pete) opened its doors to the Tampa Bay community, followed by the Central location in West St. Pete in 2024.
In 2022, when Peter’s boss retired and closed his bread bakery, the Mama G family united. They decided to continue the bread business and integrate another Mama G storefront on the south end of Sarasota. Today, Peter and their two sons manage production, while their daughters oversee the storefronts.
The latest expansion, Mama G’s South Trail, opened in the fall of 2024. This location boasts the largest seating area and the most extensive selection of items.
