Igor Art
Igor Levchenko (Leviy) is a revolutionary artist with rich history who came from Kiev, Ukraine and lives and works here in Sarasota. You can see his works of art and order painting restorations in his studio at Art Upstairs, 1369 Main Street, downtown Sarasota.
Igor Levchenko (Leviy) came from an art family. He was born in Kiev, USSR that is now independent Ukraine. He received a Master’s Degree in art expertise, art history and restoration, and degree in Fine art and design. He has over 20 years experience in Fine Art restoration and over 30 years experience in Fine Art. He restored about 500 antique paintings, icons and fresco, and helped to restore 2 churches in North Port, FL and Victoria, TX after they were hit by hurricane.
Igor is a leader of a group of Union of professional Ukrainian Artists, Union of Artists – Ukrainian House. Igor is well known for creating a group of revolutionary artists 5 years ago in a dangerous and unpredictable time. They wanted to create peace and dialog instead of killing. They created a peaceful art on war helmets, shields, walls, paintings. They believed art and talking to each other can make a big difference, instead of war and killing each other. Igor presented a hand painted helmet to American Ambassador Geoffrey Ross Pyatt for his help in Ukraine in revolution times. Igor’s work was also sent to President Obama at this time.
Igor’s father worked at the government’s art foundation in the USSR in socialistic style and propaganda art as well. He was involved in doing lots of work for the USSR, painting portraits of leaders and propaganda art. His work is displayed in the museums as interior design.
Igor creates a peaceful energy with his work. He believes Art brings peace, especially in disturbing times. You can see Igor Art on weekends, or by appointment.
Besides creating art, Igor also does art restoration and art conservation and expertise.
