The Coral House is a casual Restaurant that focuses on giving their customers an amazing dining experience. They offer American contemporary with a twist cuisine paired with craft beers & boutique wines, a full array of small plates, entrées and desserts.
Don Schoenburg is the Chef/Proprietor of the new Coral House and he is passionate about food that is made from scratch daily using local ingredients when available. They are proud to work with various local farms & businesses to provide artisan breads, ice cream & pasta. Don with partner Ken Prokop updated the original J Ryans, located near Westfield Sarasota Square Mall to accommodate up to 155 diners.
Interesting menu include burgers without beef (pork and duck with bacon and remoulade sauce on a brioche bun), duck-fat fries topped with grated truffles, and a porterhouse that is pork butt with a jalapeño green apple gastrique. Among small plates are buttermilk fried chicken on jalapeño cheese biscuits, charred octopus, ahi tuna sliders, roasted bone marrow and hot dogs with bacon on a pretzel bun. Salads might be frisee with serrano ham and a poached egg or baby kale with quinoa, cranberries and feta. There are a number of seafood selections like beer-crusted grouper, seafood pasta and chili smoked shrimp, while other entrees include duck breast with candied kumquats, herb-crusted lamb with peach chutney or smoked ribeye with caramelized onions.
Their craft beer selection is made up of 12 beers on tap and 20 beers in cans and bottles, most of which are produced here in Florida.
The Sunday brunch features pulled pork with eggs on a corn muffin, bananas Foster French toast, smoked salmon Benedict and seafood crepes, among others.
The Coral House will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.; Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the lounge open from 4 p.m.
