After spending 17 years as the bartender at the Resort at the Longboat Key Club, Karl Raffurty opened Old School Bar & Grill with the help of a Nashville business owner Chuck Johnson.
Karl Raffurty says he grew up watching “Cheers” and that he always wanted to be Sam Malone. The bar, located at 1991 Main St., also serves as a music venue: Southern rock, classic rock and country. Old School Bar & Grill is decorated with old school signs, old records. It resembles college “good old days feel.”
Come for a Happy Hour, listen to the music and dance, play pool or games, or watch sports at the Bar. For everyday fun, see here. There is always something going on at Old School Bar & Grill.
“Old school is the best bar and grill in town. Great service great live music and a amazing friendly staff. One of the only places in town I look forward to going almost every weekend. Tons of fun events with really fun people. Don’t hesitate to go in and grab some food and drinks!” – Nathanael Thomson
“I went there for the first time yesterday never knowing it even existed. I had a great time! I got to play pool and I got free drinks. They were great!” – Lauren A. Wootten
“I absolutely love it. Karl Raffurty is nothing short of awesome. Steve Rice and Jason Schmidt are great as well. 25 years of Friendship. With many more to go.” – AJ Cap
“Every experience I’ve had here has been great, this has turned into a great spot for meeting old friends. Parking isn’t an issue, tons of things to do. Dj’s cornhole on the outside patio, darts, video games, etc. Haven’t eaten there yet so I don’t know, but Karl, the owner is always making sure everybody has a great time! Oh and beautiful bartenders!!” – Pete Franciosi
