Max Spiker is a minimalist, an artist, and a nomad who uses peak experiences as a catalyst for creation. He has spent the last 7 years traveling the world and practicing mindfulness and living in various “flow” states to expand his consciousness.
Max experienced his first ego-shattering satori during a Landmark Forum weekend in 2009, after which he set out to connect with people from all walks of life. He gave away or sold most of his possessions and hit the open road. He spent years living in hotel rooms all over the world, traveling mostly by plane using only same day-one way tickets, with no preset plans.
Influenced strongly by a heart-opening experience during an Orgasmic Meditation weekend, he set out to explore the nature of impulse itself, trusting that there is no such thing as a wrong choice, only experience, and that all creativity flows from a pure moment of attention.
Max spent 5 months in Thailand in early 2015, where he encountered more esoteric spiritual teachings at a late-night chocolate shop that became his nightly gathering place. There he learned of the magic of various types of spiritual traditions – pujas of palo santo and frankincense, the art of using intention while making chocolates with exotic ingredients, an abundance offerings to Ganesha and other cross-cultural and multi-dimensional deities & beings.
After coming back to the US, Max connected even deeper to his purpose by using float tank (sensory deprivation chamber) experiences to induce deep-state meditations. Listening to his intuition, he decided to sell all his remaining assets and businesses and to re-start his life as an artist.
On February 29, 2016 Max held his very first art show on Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA where he presented a series of “cosmic passports” whose purpose was to transmit messages to the subconscious mind of the person receiving them, to “upgrade” their spiritual operating system using symbolism and focused intention embedded while creating the work.
For the remainder of 2016 and with the help of guided ceremonies using entheogenic compounds psylocybin, and the plants ayahuasca and San Pedro – Max has begun creating his series of “light code” paintings – a way to “bring awareness of the 4th dimension to the 3D space by using symbolism that transects various states of consciousness and being.”
“My intention is to create with the full force of life, with every emotion and experience at the table, laying down layers of the unseen behind the visible. I want you to remember to feel what it feels like to remember.” – Max Spiker
